Last week, we sponsored the Black Women Talk Tech (BWTT) Conference. We joined an all-star team of sponsors, including Microsoft, Samsung NEXT, Kapor Center and SAP.IO among numerous others. The theme: Roadmap to Billions. The date: Wednesday, February 27 through Friday, March 1 . The location: New York City.
BWTT is an exploratory collective of black, female founders of scalable, fundable tech companies from a wide range of industries. These visionary women personify everything it means to be a true builder. See their explainer video below.
They’re innovative trailblazers who aren’t interested in anyone’s idea of what, “should be” or what’s, “always been.” They have their own ideas of how the world could be. And they’re ready to build that world, virtual brick by virtual brick.
At the conference, we also met our partners at Digital Ocean, who also stand behind BWTT.
Like BTWW attendees, we're dedicated to pushing the boundary of conventional thinking--to see every problem as an opportunity. This is why BWTT and Engineer.ai are natural partners. Black women are the most educated, fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs. It’s time they started building billion-dollar tech companies.
To showcase our commitment to helping develop these ultra successful ideas, we supplied the 2019 BWTT Founder Showcase Competition an app valued at $30,000 to the winner to turn their idea into reality.
Because, no matter the advances in technology, no matter the hardware and the software and the upward spiral of processing power, we know that the true driver of the future is a visionary with an idea.
Though numerous high value startups presented their ideas, one made it to the top, ReflektMe. This prospective billion dollar idea is founded by Oluwatope Fashola, Ph.D. What's the ReflektMe pitch, you wonder? In short, they're a new personalization company focused on, "reflekting the beauty of inclusivity, diversity and positive self-image."
The celebration happened from the Black Women Talk Tech stage on social media, first announced on our Twitter channel. Check out their celebration tweet below.
We look forward to announce the successful launch of ReflektMe and continue to support the startup community globally.
